1: LUSTING AFTER_The Tiger Claw Pendant from Boh Runga’s Tiger Range Every time Boh Runga launches a new jewellery range with NZ Mint (this is her fifth), there’s usually at least one stand out item that catches my eye. This time, there are two of them. Firstly the Tiger Ring ($315.00), which is special in that it’s Boh first foray into rings, but also because it has gorgeous sapphire eyes!! And then there’s the Tiger Claw Pendant ($159.00), the fierce claw, offset by the cutest little heart clasp. Perfect. Keep an eye our in the future for her next foray into the Chinese zodiac with the 2011 Year of the Rabbit collection, inspired by her sister Bic.

Ever since ‘Hide and Seek’ played over top of that moment on the OC where (cast your mind back please) Marissa shot Trey and then realized what she’d done, I’ve been a fan. You may also recognize ‘Hide and Seek’ as the song from the sample in the Jason Derulo hit of the moment, ‘Whatchu Say’. Shudder. As well as her quirky music style, I also love Imogen’s attitude on making her music successful – she does it her way. She announces everything to her fans on her website, Facebook and Twitter, streams sneak-peek previews and sells earlybird tracks in advance of their mainstream sale and even held open auditions for cello players for her Auckland show tonight. Can’t wait! 3: CREATING A RITUAL WITH_Trilogy Botanical Body Wash It’s no secret, that how you start the day can have an impact on how the rest of your day unfolds. When this body wash from Trilogy came across my desk, I dutifully took it home and placed it in the shower ready to test. Hand on heart, it's amazing. Trilogy proudly describe it as ‘a delicate blend of aroma-therapeutic oils, non-drying cleansers and the pure plant extracts of Kawa Kawa, Aloe, Chamomile, Lavender, Frankincense and Rose Geranium to kick start your day ’. I have to agree with them, it smells AMAZING and leaves your skin feeling great, not with that tight, dry skin that some body washes do. $26.90 for 500ml. .jpg)
4: JUSTIFYING_The new Samsung NX10 One of the big showcase items when I was at the Samsung SEA Forum in Singapore was the NX10 camera and now it's here in New Zealand! Billed as the lovechild (my words) between your traditional easy-to-use point-and-shoot digital camera and the more fancy-pants (again, my words) and professional Digital SLR style camera, the NX10 is a lot of fun to play with – and it takes great photos. With an RRP of $1099, it may be a step up from what you’re looking at in the $200-300 pricepoint, but given that you get the benefits of a quality SLR camera, such as a high quality APS-C 14.6 MP sensor, interchangeable lenses, 3-inch AMOLED screen, Auto Focus, HD movie recording, etc , but with the benefit of being lighter and more handbag friendly, it might be worth considering for those weekend photographers, parents, travelers etc. Head in store and have a play or visit www.samsung.co.nz 5: DEVOURING_ Milkshakes As anyone who has ever been to a café with me can attest, I’m a milkshake fan. My flavor of choice? Mocha – part chocolate, part espresso shot! I call it my hug in a glass, and it’s the best pick-me-up! But, as of yesterday, there’s a new flavor combination on my mind. Perusing the drinks menu at the Rosehip Café in Parnell I came across their ‘Malt and Honey’ smoothie. Best decision of the day! Such a yummy combination and I managed to get the recipe; crush ice in a blender, add a cup of trim milk, 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of malt powder, then blitz again. Et voila, instant hug in a glass! FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE_The nzgirl hot five promise nzgirl's hot five is an institution on the site - and for good reason. It's where we share our five favourite things from the week. You can't buy a space in the hot five, it's at our total discretion and Tee's dictation and we want you to know that. |
