READ WATCH LISTEN: Warm Your Heart With Reese Witherspoon
Tis the season for heartwarming festive-themed movies again, and we are not complaining!
Home Again is a charming insight into the life of single mother Alice Kinney, played by Reese Witherspoon. It is written and directed by Hallie-Myers Shyer, who wrote the childhood classic The Parent Trap.
Alice is the daughter of a famous film director, and after an eventful night celebrating her 40th birthday, three young men enter her life. Harry (Pico Alexander) lusts after Alice, and his accomplices Teddy (Nat Wolff) and George (Jon Rudnitsky) end up following suit.
Thanks to an unlikely invitation from Alice’s mother Lillian (Candice Bergen), the trio move into Alice’s guest house. Hilarity ensues as the wannabe filmmakers befriend Alice’s two daughters Isabel and Rosie, and essentially become a part of the family themselves.
Alice is torn between how she is expected to act as a 40-year-old woman, and the daring nature of the three men she is hosting. Harry, Teddy, and George remind her in their own unique ways that she is indeed young at heart. Fans of Nat Wolff will definitely enjoy his role in this, and will appreciate his scene stealing moments. The film’s moral encourages the audience to strive towards their dreams without fear or compromise.
Like any romantic comedy, the storyline loses grip on reality frequently, but thanks to a fail-safe comedic performance by Witherspoon, it never strays from its feel-good intentions. Although it may not equate to Witherspoon’s other films, Home Again is still hopelessly funny. It is the perfect movie to go see with your Mum or best friend.
Home Again is in cinemas now.
