If you’re looking for a movie that delves into a bit of history, has you on the edge of your seat and leaves you without any fingernails, 6 Days is the movie for you. Directed by the incredibly talented Toa Fraser, the movie replicates the five day Iranian Embassy siege. London and the rest of the world witnessed one of the most intense incursions on 30 April 1980. Where six combatant gunmen took twenty-six people hostage, in order to force the government to release Arabian captives. Amongst all of this, the entire crisis was documented live on the British network. No pressure!
The movie follows Mark Strong who plays Max Vernon. As the adept negotiator who tries to handle the situation at hand through his words. The negotiation between the gunman and Max is highly dependent on a base of faith between rivals. Alongside Max, was Jamie Bell who played Rusty Firmin who was accompanied by his special forces team. Who were prepared to take a more serious course of action.
Lastly, the brave Kate Adie, played by Abbie Cornish from BBC who risked her life to through the explosions to record and report the duration of the siege. These people have become a key part in history. This movie is an admirable nod to their bravery and repertoire.
The movie is cleverly filmed, giving the audience point-of-view shots and well-crafted action shots which are sure to increases your heart rate. In contrast to this, the movie has moments of unexpected humor which helps elevate the tension. Alongside this, the movie also contains uncanny replications of the CCTV camera footage. At the end of the movie, the audience receives a glimpse of the real footage as well as real life updates on the key characters in the movie.
6 Days will be out in cinemas on September 7th.
