Queenstown in winter is one of the most beautiful places ever. If you are looking for a mid-winter escape, then look no further than this cute town. Spend all day skiing or snowboarding at any of the awesome ski fields, drink mulled wine in front of the fire in the late afternoon, and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the many fabulous restaurants before dancing the night away in your chosen bar or club. What could be better?!
So… what are Queenstown’s must-do’s?
Skiing and snowboarding – The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona and Treble Cone are the ski resorts to choose from. Buses/shuttles run to all ski fields (arrange this in advance to ensure a seat if you’re visiting in the busy season) and most chairlifts are open from 9am – 4pm. If you’re new to snow sports, you can hire gear and book lessons easily.
Adrenaline – Queenstown has earned its reputation as being the adrenaline capital of NZ (if not the world!). If you’re after something to get your blood pumping, then bungy jumping, canyon swinging or sky diving will be the activities for you.
Chill out – Even if you’re not much of a skier and the idea of heights freaks you out, there’s still something in Queenstown for you. Hot pools, day spas and wine tours abound. Who could turn down soaking in a hot tub whilst gazing at spectacular alpine views? Bliss!
Where is your favourite winter escape?
