A particularly disappointing piece of ginger slice ended my month-long run of being lazy and buying slices rather than making them. The disappointment has prompted a resolution to always, always, always make my own slices – starting with this wonderful and dead easy peanut butter slice.
Not only does this slice taste amazing, but you can get it all ready in a matter of minutes – perfect for making after work or when you’ve got unexpected guests arriving!
Feel free to play around with the ingredients in this recipe – it’s pretty fail proof! Use less or more peanut butter, different biscuits, a coarser crumb, less chocolate, more chocolate… as a bakeless slice you don’t have to worry about messing up the science that goes on in the oven.
I got a little distracted while making this slice and ended up adding a little too much melted butter to the base, making it stickier than it ought to be. This was an easy fix despite not having any more superwines in the house – I just added a cup of rice bubbles! My partner and I really liked the crunch these gave the slice, to the point where I think they’ll become a regular addition to this recipe – though I suggest using extra peanut butter rather than butter to keep the peanut buttery taste!
