While visiting my family over the Easter weekend, we stopped into our favourite spot the Okere Falls Store. It’s located on the edge of Lake Rotoiti which is 20 minutes outside of Rotorua on SH33 between Rotorua and Tauranga. It would be the perfect stop for any nzgirl as they have a wide selection of delicious food to choose from as well as great coffee. They also sell a wide range of specialty products, like organic chicken through to beef, as well as Italian made pasta.
I purchased the novelty selection of Eiffel Tower shaped pasta while I was there. In the summer it is the perfect place to stop off and unwind before continuing your drive. The Beer garden out the back is most popular during this time. They stock Imported Belgium beer, which I prefer. The Cafés prices are fair, however be warned it can trap you into spending a lot more. I am always tempted by the amazing products the have to offer. One thing I love most about the Store is their aim to be environmentally friendly. Knives and forks are made from wood, the plates are made from potatoes and all the paper bags and napkins have been made from recycled papers.
Next time you find yourself between Tauranga and Rotorua keep an eye out for it you will be sure to enjoy it.
