Ok, so I am a small person, not tall and lanky like the beautiful models you see wearing the oh so fashionable maxi dresses for summer. I have tried on literally hundreds and just cant get them to work for me, the curves add to this issue as well. I was thinking, “thats it, Im doomed for summer!!!!”
Then….
I tried on a kind of 50s inspired sun dress, this one happens to be at JUST JEANS (rp$69.99) and it was perfect. Matched with a tan pair of wedges and a floppy hat and you can get that sunbabe look withought the excess-fabric-pregnant-looking maxi dress.
Also bonus!!! IT MADE MY LEGS LOOK SLIMMER!!! and I am all for that!!!, Because of the A-line style of the skirt it can make your legs appear much smaller, and the calf length with heels or wedges makes the look longer!!. I did add a thin belt around the waist also to define the waistline as it was lacking shape around the midsection.
You dont have to go for floral, plain colours will also do (see max dress picture below), but make sure you add some casual accessories to lessen the 50s prom dress or plain jane feel to it.
