Auckland’s Okra esspresso-lounge is found at 161 Sandringham Rd, only a couple of minutes walk from Eden park. They serve the best coffee in Auckland and have a mouth watering menu. I would reccomend Eggs Royale for breakfast, and the amazing chicken sandwhich for lunch with bacon and avocado!
For the last six years my sisters and I have visited Okra nearly every single week. We are such Okra regulars that they know our ‘usuals’ and greet us on a first name basis. Locals become very loyal to both Okra’s food, and Mickey, the owner.
Okra is also an art space, displaying and selling paintings and photographs by local artists. A trip to Okra will never leave you disappointed, from the amazing food and coffee, to the quirky decor, you will find yourself coming back again and again.
Next time you’re in the Auckland area make your way to Okra at about 11:30am so you can choose to order from the lunch or breakfast menu. But be warned, Okra is a popular place so get in quick. Try to get a seat in the courtyard outback (through the kitchen). You never know who you may find yourself sitting next to, both Tiki Taane and Shihad’s John Toogood are Okra regulars!
