Reader favourite: Book to read over summer

I was recommended One Day by David Nicholls before I went overseas and it was hard to make it last long enough to still have pages left to read on the plane.  I just couldn’t put it down.

One Day is about the lives of two friends, who meet on the day they graduate – Em and Dex.  Their story is told on the same day, every year for two decades.  So each chapter is a year later.  Sometimes their lives are entertwined, some years they have lost touch.  This book is brilliantly written and you never quite know where it is going to end up, with unexpected twists and turns, right until the end.
