So you’ve stumbled across nzgirl, but what exactly is it, you may be asking?
Since 1999 nzgirl has enjoyed its position as New Zealand’s premier online magazine. We’re the place you come to for everything you might be (or might not be!) getting from a typical print magazine (and so much more) but we’re completely online and totally free.
To get the most out of your nzgirl experience make sure you sign up for the site. This allows you to log into our forums and enter all our great competitions. It also means you can choose to receive email updates from us, which tell you about cool new things on the site and also give you the exclusive on great deals and offers from the brands and companies we deal with. Our target audience is women 18-35, but we still have plenty of younger and older visitors…however, we do state that due to the nature of some of our content the site is not suitable for under-16s.

Jenene Freer
Founder/Publisher

My role with nzgirl is…Publisher. I’m more of a mentor and overseer nowdays – but I do still look after the accounts and make sure that everyone is paid on time. I’m also there to be the sounding board for day to day and help ensure that everyone is focused and on strategy.
The article I always look out for is… Hot 5! Also, I sneakily look at the forums every day without fail – but I admit, I’m more of a lurker than participater nowdays!
When I’m not at work, you can find me… on a plane! I’m actually based in Sydney and I go back and forth over the tasman a lot! I live right by the water in the inner west suburb of Lilyfield and you can find me running, walking the dog or getting my best "Julia!" on in the kitchen.
I firmly believe… the right thing will happen at the right time for the right reasons.
The best thing about being an nzgirl is… being afforded the opportunities to do cool things like this! Sure we have some pretty tough times, but really, in the scheme of things? They’re not tough – they’re incredibly fortunate.
2010 is the year of: Me, at last! And possibly babies – maybe, watch this space….
Favourite pair of shoes:. The Hot Pick sequin stilettos sitting on my shelf right now!
The song that has the most plays in my iTunes: Human by The Killers – my husband sang it to me recently so I tend to listen to it and remind me of how special he is. Makes me smile.
Workout of choice: Running – it gets me going!
The food I crave: Vintage cheddar…..with a lovely stack of crackers, pickled onions and a pinot noir to wash it down. Wow, I have got old!
Tee Twyford
General Manager/Editor-in-Chief
Email: tee.twyford@nzgirl.co.nz

My role with nzgirl is… General Manager/Editor. So pretty varied. I am responsible for the look and feel of nzgirl, developing and publishing content, generating new ideas to help grow the business, cultivating relationships with advertisers and readers alike, engrossing myself in social media and bringing one of my favourite brands to life.
The article I always look out for is… On My Desk, as I love to see what other inspirational nzgirls use to inspire (and organize) themselves in their day to day working lives.
When I’m not at work, you can find me… indulging in a glass of Pinot Gris with the girls, lying on the beach at Hahei with my family, reading one of the many great books that show up on my desk, debating the merits of the Rotten Tomatoes film critique versus the actual film with my partner, tweeting up a storm, lamenting how once again my wardrobe has escaped the coat hangers…
I firmly believe… that I am a child of the Universe. Put it out there, want it, be unashamably you and watch the world unfold before you.
The best thing about being an nzgirl is… on a local (ie within these walls) level, it’s getting to have a sneak preview of all of the amazing new treats that are coming out AND hearing how nzgirl has impacted on reader’s lives. On a bigger scale, it’s the strong female heritage that allows me to be who I want, do what I aspire to do and say what I feel. Make the most of it girls! That and all of the gorgeous beaches!
2010 is the year of: Opportunities and new beginnings!
Favourite pair of shoes: Pink floral peep-toes from Nude
The song that has the most plays in my iTunes: Brothers on a Hotel Bed, Death Cab for Cutie
Workout of choice: Beating a boxing bag/attempting a layup on the basketball court/slamming an ace on the tennis court
The food I crave: La Zeppa’s Haloumi and Goats Cheese balls with Rocket & Honey
Rosie Thompson
Campaign Manager
Email: rosie.thompson@nzgirl.co.nz
My role with nzgirl is…Campaign Manager. Basically my responsibilities include managing bookings, site trafficking and reporting, and working closely with the editorial team to integrate an advertisers brand into nzgirl.
The article I always look out for is… Hot 5
When I’m not at work, you can find me… enjoying the beautiful view as I run along the Waterfront, hanging out with my gorgeous baby nieces, batch-hopping with friends, catching up over dinner with the girls, or chilling out at home watching a DVD with my partner…oh and of course enjoying a refreshing cocktail in the sun!
I firmly believe… that life swings around in roundabouts, or as hottie Timberlake put it "what goes around comes around!" I am a strong believer that if you do something selfless for others, then you will get rewarded and receive the same love back.
The best thing about being an nzgirl is… the amazing opportunities. Us girls in NZ are blessed to have the freedom to grow on both a personal and professional level.
2010 is the year of: Opportunities, definitely.
Favourite pair of shoes: Impossible to pick just one! Love them all.
The song that has the most plays in my iTunes: My all time favourite has to be Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror. It gets me every time.
Workout of choice: I would die without my weekly dose of Pilates, my 7am boxing sessions with Tee and jogging along the waterfront at night.
The food I crave: If it’s cold, I crave warm vege nachos or home-made pizza, or if it’s hot I crave salmon, feta, avocado salad and Watermelon….nom nom nom!
Fiona Lees
Direct Ad Sales Manager
Email: fiona.lees@nzgirl.co.nz
My role with nzgirl is… Direct Ad Sales Manager. I look after all the direct advertising so I’m talking and meeting new people every day, building relationships and getting nzgirl products out there where they meet the needs of our current clients and lots of new ones! I work closely with Tee and Rosie to identify sales opportunities for different products that we can develop across the site.
The article I always look out for is… Hot 5 without a doubt. A Friday tradition for what/who to check out in the weekend.
When I’m not at work, you can find me… hanging out at One Tree Hill, it’s literally my back yard; increasing the size of my wardrobe, after seven years in the UK I’m loving getting to know NZ designers again (but finding it hard to live without H&M); learning more about fishing at my friend’s family bach at Totara North; buying food magazines and recipe books, pouring over the recipes and hitting the kitchen, something I’ve recently fallen in love with but is fast becoming an addiction.
I firmly believe…in being honest. You can’t go wrong if you just tell the truth. Obviously some situations requiring bending the truth slightly but if you don’t deviate too far things can’t go too wrong.
The best thing about being an nzgirl is…the freedom and lifestyle. Through all the places I’ve travelled we really do have it the best.
2010 is the year of: Reconnecting with all things NZ
Favorite pair of shoes: 4 inch high leopard skin heels from Dune, they only come out occasionally but I feel a million dollars in them.
The song that has the most plays in my iTunes: Has to be anything by The Dixie Chicks, I have a close friend to blame for this one but I confess these girls get me going every time.
Workout of choice: Long walk up the summit of One Tree Hill or a run if I’m in the mood. I’m also looking forward to checking out Zumba at my gym.
The food I crave… Salt and pepper squid almond skordalia with smoked chilli oil from Soul in the Viaduct
