Eyes are the Window to the Soul

Eyes are the Window to the Soul

‘The Eyes are the windows to the soul’ – where on earth did a phrase like this come from? One theory is that this age old phrase came from science.

The alternative treatment, Iridology looks at the patterns in the eyes to get to the source of health problems. The scientific method of analysing the eye, studies the iris and the patterns and structures within it. Iridologists claim that this part of the eye can reveal body health, strengths and weaknesses, and even transitions that take place in a person’s body according to their way of life.

The way it works is that the iris is composed of hundreds of thousands of nerve endings which are connected by impulses to every tissue of the body through the brain and nervous system. It is holistic in concept and well accepted in other fields of alternative medicine and gives support for the idea that when examined correctly, each part of the body contains information about other parts of the body.

The history of iridology did not start with scientific investigation though, but with one man’s intuition. Ignatz von Péczely, a 19th-century Hungarian physician invented iridology. He got the idea for this diagnostic tool when he saw a dark streak in the eyes of a man he was treating for a broken leg and it reminded him of a similar dark streak in the eyes of an owl whose leg he had broken years earlier.

Von Péczely then went on to document similarities in eye markings and illnesses in his patients and then developed a map to help others diagnose them. Flecks in the iris indicate different diseases or ailments and by comparing these against the eye chart, the theory is that iridologists can determine what supplements you should be given (these are normally of the herbal variety).

But it’s not just the inside of the eye that reflects your health. Rings and dark circles are indicators of tiredness and some days those just can’t be avoided. So in order to calm the puffiness and disguise the dark circles, Clean and Clear have come up with the Under Eye Brightening Stick.

It has a special formulation that feels cool and is instantly refreshing, helping to revive tired eyes and disguise those tell tale signs of late nights. Available from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide, the ‘Clean and Clear Under Eye Brightening Stick’ helps us to keep our windows (or window panes at least) fresh and clear.
