With summer around the corner, now is the time when
most of us will start panicking about revealing our winter bodies. So – we asked Jessica Alba’s trainer, Ramona Braganza to spill her top five tips for getting in shape quickly with us!

1: Congratulate yourself!
First, congratulate yourself for deciding to get back into shape for summer. Now, set some reasonable goals that you can achieve short term and long term, including personal rewards for yourself once you reach each goal. Keep a journal of your achievements and be gentle with yourself, it’s better to lose 1-2 lbs a week and make this a lifetime habit than trying crash dieting or over exercising which won’t last.
2: Suss your eating habits
Sort out your eating habits. Keep a food journal over a three day period and record what types of foods you are eating and how many calories you are consuming. Summer is a great time to add in more fruits and vegetables, and start eating healthier. Eating more frequently is also important. I recommend three meals, two snacks and a minimum of one liter of water during the day.

3: Keep hydrated
Staying hydrated is the most important thing to remember because it keeps your body’s metabolism functioning at peak performance. My favorite way to hydrate is with glacéau vitaminwater because it is great-tasting and with added goodies, helps kiwis on the go live more balanced lifestyles.
4: Well rounded exercise plan
Choose a well rounded exercise plan that includes cardio, strength training and core work. Cardio increases your metabolism, strength training builds muscle, tones and shapes your body and has the added benefit of raising metabolism when you rest, and core work concentrates on the foundation of a strong healthy body. My 3-2-1 training method has all three components in a quick and easy workout . Schedule in workouts at least three to five times a week and you will have a bikini body in no time!
5: Variation
Finally add some variation to your exercise plan to make it more fun and beat the monotony of a regular routine. My clients add in music, include friends and family on hikes or bike rides, walk their dogs a few extra times a week, try new classes, and even new sports. Summer is a great time to learn tennis or perhaps scuba diving. Making fitness a way of life has always been my motto, do it for the summer then do it for life!
