Summer is a fabulous time of year! Sun, surf, sand, shorts and skirts. Unfortunately for some of us, the last two can be a scary thought but not so much if you follow these simple fitness tips to help give you toned legs!
CyclingThe great thing is that getting on a bike is suddenly very trendy because of celebrities being snapped on their two wheels. It is a cheap form of transportation (not to mention very eco-friendly) and is wonderfully helpful to get your legs sexy and shaped (it is actually a great all over body workout). So basically… ‘get on yer bike!!’.
Running on the sand
If you have ever tried running on the sand, you’ll know what
we mean when we say it is hard work! If you haven’t had a go, get off the treadmill and head to your closest beach for the leg workout of a lifetime! Sand is great because it isn’t so hard on your body in terms of impacting on your joints or knees, but definitely works up a sweat. Start off on harder, wet sand, as running on the beach and especially softer sand will take your muscles and ligaments some getting used to.

Never tried but always wanted to? What’s stopping you? Sign
up for some lessons with some mates, or rope in a skilled friend to show you the beginning steps. Using your legs to hold you on the board and keep balance is a great way to help strengthen and tone your legs, while also working your core (abs!) Even if you keep falling off, you will still be using those legs to get back out into the surf and up onto the board. Before you slip into that bikini make sure your legs are silky smooth with the new Gillette Venus Embrace. It’s an easy way to get beautifully smooth legs just in time for summer!

Tennis
Tennis is an awesome summer sport that requires two people (or even four for doubles) and it is really great for a leg workout because of the sprinting you have to do to get the ball, and the changes of directions/stopping and starting. The great thing is you don’t need expensive gear to get started either, just some good sneakers, a racket and some tennis balls. Plus its fun to dress up in a cute little tennis outfit with sweatbands!

Beach Volleyball
This is a really fun way to get those legs working because it is one you can do with all your friends (and maybe some hot guys you happen to meet on the beach!). All that jumping and moving around is fantastic to get your thighs and calves working hard, and even more so because you are on the sand. Time can go by fast when you’re playing a team sport. Before you know it you will have had an hour workout and so much fun while doing it!
