Period on the pill? (3 posts)

    Hi ladies,

So I consider myself quite clued up on my body, but at the moment it’s going crazy and I think I may know why but it would be nice to have other opinions just in case!

So basically I’m taking Yaz (the pill) and finished my last period 2 weeks ago. But in the last 5 days I’ve been having a period. And I don’t mean spotting or breakthrough bleeding. I’ve had cramps and the normal amount of bleeding for a regular period…except it’s in the middle of me taking my active pills!

Last week my boyfriend and I broke up for two days. The stress was immense and I lost 3kgs. Since then, we got back together and I’m happy again but my eating is still not very good (still the same weight, haven’t put the 3kg back on).
So I’m thinking maybe this period is stress related? Or possibly even to go with my food habits? Also my bf lives overseas and the last time I had sex was around the 12th of January… This couldn’t be anything more serious right????

    Any ideas?

    xx

I’ve been on the pill for about 6 years or so, and sometimes when I’m exactly half way through my cycle (ie; ovulation) I get break through bleeding… I’d imagine the heaviness of this can vary from girl to girl? Also if I skip my period too often (4 or more times) it just happens whenever the heck it wants to lol.

I think the stress could definitely be a contributing factor – it can play havoc with your hormones and mess up the period routine. However I might suggest going and talking to a nurse/doctor about it – just make sure that the pill is still working for you.
