    Hi Emma!

Thanks for replying to my post about the Moroccan oil. You’re lovely!

Ok my question is regarding acne scars. I’ve had really bad skin for years. and I always used to pick them :/ now I have scars all over my face (both cheeks). I realize its quite hard to get rid of the scars but I also have black/brown spots with the scars. I wear foundation everyday to cover them up but I’m not a big fan of makeup. I would love to stop wearing makeup. I was wondering if you knew a way I could get rid of the spots at least :)

    Hi runi,

Can you please tell me if your scars are pitted? If they are I definitely recommend a dermaroller from http://www.dermaroller.co.nz

Regarding the pigmentation or discoloration of your skin, you will need to try a few products to get the best results.

    1. A skin lightening serum that does not contain hydroquinone.
    2. A vitamin A cream, perhaps some retin A prescribed by your doctor or I can recommend one for you
    3. A vitamin C serum
    3. Glycolic cream

The best thing to do is to take some before pics, then try a few products for a few months and then compare with your pics. An investment in a dermaroller will definitely pay off!
If within your budget have a few omnilux light treatments and a few microdermabrasions to slough off the dead skin caused by the Vitamin A cream.

Let us know if you have any more questions, I am happy to help :)

PS. In the general section there is a Ask Emma forum, if you post skincare questions under that I will be able to see them sooner and respond faster!

    Take care, wrap up warm

    Hi Emma,

Sorry about posting under the wrong forum.

Yes my acne scars are pitted. I’ll have a look at the dermroller :)

I have already used a skin lightening cream, but didn’t check whether it had the ingredient you have mentioned.
Could you please describe a retin a for me ? :)
Also where will I be able to get the Vitamin C serum and the Glycolic cream? I checked the lifepharmacy website but couldn’t find any :)

Thank you so much for everything! x

    Hi runi,
A dermaroller would definitely help with your pitted scars. Start with a .5mm so you get some collagen induction effect from it.
RetinA is the purest form of Vitamin A you can get and you will need to see a Doctor for a prescription. It essentially works by turning over your skin cells faster to reveal newer fresher less pigmented skin. It can cause flakiness though.
I can send you a sample of some glycolic cream to try, just email me at emma@drdermacare.co.nz It will also work best with a roller

    Take care
