    Hi girls
My partners work xmas do is going to be at the races for Melbourne cup day. Anyone got any good recommendations for what to wear? I figure I should try to find something conservativish in terms of length and neckline but still want something fun
    Thanks

I reckon go colourful. Good chance to try out colour blocking. I have a rule that race wear is always to the knee, (but can still be very flattering) and obviously a day time neckline. Also you MUST have a fasinator or a cute hat.

What race track is it? Ellerslie in Auckland is very dressed up but other race courses might be more relaxed. Ellerslie also has a great website that helps with dress code standards for race days.

I love the races and love race fashion, it’s a good chance to be girly and dress up nicely. Kiwis don’t seem to like dressing up or obeying dress standards but I love dress codes, and everyone always looks so good and so smart!

Actually in Dunedin, so don’t have to be super formal but I figure it’s a good excuse to get dressed up.
Definitely planning on a hat or a fascinator. Not sure which yet I need to go and have a play around cos I have short hair, think Emma Watson, so need to work out logistics of what looks good and can be safely secured to my head

You get fascinators that are attached to headbands in places like Equip, makes it easier if you have short hair!
