    I need retail advice…

One of our oldest and dearest friends is due to become a daddy soon. They are expecting the arrival of a baby girl ‘Erin’ and although they’re currently living in Perth me and my boyfriend want to send them something really cool.

We need to be able to post it – or order it online from OZ and have it delivered?

Baby clothes are obvious but are there any other ideas for new borns that the parents would really appreciate for under $100??

Maybe a nice book? I know the baby will be too young for it now, but it will be easy to post.

ooo. like one of those ‘first’ books? where parents fill it in. ive got one, its got hair in it (first haircut) my weight/height etc at certain ages.
but they might already have one..

a nice photo album? newparents love taking photos of the baby..

    Haha, I’m Erin-born-in-Perth!! :D

I always go for things like cute bibs or more practical things… when my brother was born we found there were oodles of toys and pants and tops and things, but we hardly had any bibs and things you run out of fast, singlets and things.

A classic book is always good!
How about one of those baby feet/hands casting kits? Seeing prints are cute, but little moulds are oh so sweet!!

lots of people will be buying them gifts for the baby… so why not get them something little for the baby and something nice just for them. a voucher to a nice resturant that doesn’t expire for a while so when they can have a night alone (however far away that may be) they can enjoy reconnecting just the two of them? I’ve heard lots of new mums say how amazing it is when someone gives them a gift, not something for the baby, cos they’re all stressed etc etc.

    Bibs for bubs
    Pamper Pack for Mum
And a 6 pack for dad (or something a little more suitable….)

Ive just had an invite for my friends baby shower who’s having a little boy, and it’s so true MewFreak. She’s got a list of things she’d like for baby but she hasn’t put bibs and singlets and I don’t think she’s stocked up on them either. I know what to buy woohoo!

The one thing I didnt think to get and was given was a nice sheepskin. Baby girl LOOOOVES it, put the babe on it nakey and it’s a whole new touch sensation for them. Plus, they’re under $100 at babyfactory or babycity. The other thing I was given that I couldnt live without is a toweling ramp for the bath that supports baby.

i agree on the sheepskins… my neieces used theirs for years, in their cots and when otu walking they’d go in their pram which kept them extra snug. a very cool present and something maybe a new parent wouldnt go out and buy as $100 can be expensy on one income.. and it will last for years.

you can buy those baby gift cards on line for shops like babyfactory & city etc, maybe do that with the suggestion of what you want them to buy or something?

I ended up spending $100 today at The Babys Room on Old Banks Arcade in Wellys (next door to lush). For a tiny shop, I spent a LOT of time in there. ended up with a baby wrap, hooded towel, 2 bib sets, 5 pairs of socks for a baby boy and a baby girl who’re gonna be born in the next few weeks.

Is that a fairly new shop or something? I can’t picture/remember ever seeing it… Must check it out. Babies everywhere to buy for!

Yeah I think it’s only popped up in the past couple of months, I only saw it for the first time about a week ago. They have quite a big range of stuff too. so little and cute!

Lately I’ve found that shopping for babies is so much fun… hard to NOT buy everything in the shops! Everything’s so adorable. LOL. I’ve gone clucky… :P
