There are some songs that sum up the pain a break-up causes. Whether you’re sad, angry, depressed or just plain frustrated, these songs will get you through every emotion you’ll be dealt in a bad case of heartache.
1. Free, Alana Davis: Total gut-wrenching, heartbreaking stuff. If you’re not depressed before you listen to this one, you will be by the time the song finishes.
2. Song for the Dumped, Ben Folds Five: It’s written from a guy’s perspective but the sentiment is still the same. The best “up yours” of all break-up songs.
3. Stupid, Sarah McLauchlan: It’ll totally work in with the rollercoaster of emotions that follow a break-up.
4. Used to Think, Goldenhorse: Let Kirsten Morelle say the things you really want to say. This one’s best when you’ve reached the angry stage.
5. Ten Days, Missy Higgins: So perfect it can’t be described in words other than to say it’ll absolutely fit where you are on the tenth day. Unless he’s a complete prick, in which case you’re better off without him.
Honourable Mention: Lover You Should’ve Come Over, Jeff Buckley
