1. Her birth name was Lisa Nicole Lopes.

2. She was born on the 27th May 1971, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

3. Lisa’s father was in the Army. They did a lot of moving about when she was young, and she grew up in Kansas, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Panama.

4. The oldest of three children, she left her abusive home at the age of 17 with nothing but a piano and $750 to pursue her music career.

5. She had a problem with alcohol, which she blamed mostly on her father.

6. In 1995, Lopes made national and international headlines after she set the home of her boyfriend, Atlanta Piston’s star Andre Rison, ablaze after a major fight. Lopes, who was sentenced to 5 years probation and therapy at a halfway house, never was able to shake that incident from her personality, and along with Lil’ Kim, became one of hip hop music’s bad girls.
