For all of the Wellington locals, you WILL know Sweet Mother’s Kitchen! Perhaps the best food I have ever had in the Capital the only downside is that it’s in high demand! If you’re willing to wait during a busy lunchtime for a seat it will be worth it!
Now I’m not a Wellington local, but I have been to Sweet Mother’s Kitchen a countless amount of times. I make sure each visit is accompanied by either their waffles with grilled bananas, bacon and maple syrup for breakfast or their BBQ chicken Po Boys for lunch. Their curly fries are a must-have side for every meal.

Located at the end of Courtenay Place surrounded by many other restaurants, Sweet Mother’s Kitchen is always much more busy than the rest and always bustling with the constant flow of happy customers. The restaurant is decorated with vintage toys, photographs, art and fruit shaped lights making the atmosphere feel warm and full of personality.
Considering the amazing food that comes out of the kitchen and the high demand for it, service is quick and sufficient. Sweet Mother’s Kitchen is a little gem of a place and well worth your time in Wellington. I’m getting super hungry just writing about it!
Until you can make it to Sweet Mother’s Kitchen I’ll let you drool over some of my favourites…
