This is one of my favourite chicken pies. This variation comes out of the warming drawer at Ponsonby Road’s newest joint, The Food Room.
Despite being new, this wasn’t really a gamble as The Food Room is steeped in the tradition of Kingsland’s The Fridge (my original tasting destination) and Parnell’s The Chiller.
Delicious flaky pastry, the delightful addition of sesame seeds sprinkled on top and an amazing chicken, mushroom and basil pesto (their distinguishing ingredient as far as I can tell amongst the other favourites) filling. Nom, nom, nom!
