Sometimes nails just need a little more care than another coat of nail poslish.
Like our skin our nails need to be looked after too keep them strong and healthy. But it doesn’t have to be time consuming and expensive. Check out our top tips for caring for your nails here.
1. Keep your fingernails dry and clean.
Doing this will help to prevent bacteria, fungi and other organisms that may grow under your fingernails. It is important to wear rubber gloves when washing dishes and using harsh chemicals, it is not only your skin that is harmed.
2. Trim and file after your shower
Trimming and filing your nails regularly will help control breakage and keep your nails strong. Doing this after your bath or shower, when your nails are soft means they are more pliable and will be easier to trim without breaking!
3. Wear clear nail polish
Rather than leave your nails unpainted use a clear nail polish. A nail hardening coat will work best to protect them against every day life and if it chips no one is going to notice.
4. Moisturise!
Nails, like skin, can dry out easily, especially if you are using nail polish remover regularly. When using your daily moisturiser concentrate on your nails too. Or better yet, have a hand and nail cream in your bag to put on throughout the day. It will help to keep your nails strong and stop them from getting brittle.
5. Push back your cuticles
Never cut your cuticles, instead use a cuticle stick to gently push them back after trimming and filing when your nails are soft. If they are dry and break you can use cuticle oil to soften them.
It’s not hard to look after your nails, just a little TLC and a good routine will keep them healthy, strong and beautiful.
