The perfect frame gallery is about creating a collection that is personal and means something to you. It should reflect who you are, your family, your lifestyle and your favourite things. Thinking outside the box makes for a really interesting gallery and also a reflection of your life that you and others can admire.
The rule to making a great frame gallery is that there are no rules! Express yourself! It is always neat to go in to someones house and in one area be able to see everything that is important – where you have traveled too, are you an animal lover, if your fun and bright or serious and contrasting. Little trinkets you pick up along that way are perfect in a frame or mounted on canvas. Frames are the star of the show but a few odd shapes such as keys and love hearts adds dimension and fun.I love cutting cool bright coloured images from design magazines or framing tickets to events to give it a more personal touch.
There is no right or wrong way to do it, that’s the main thing to remember but if you are a newbie to the frame gallery craze here are a few helpful tips to get you started.
1. Collect a large range of frames in different shapes and sizes. (I prefer to stick with one colour such as black and white and introduce colour through the images)
2. Collect some other little wall hangers and trinkets to mix it up a bit
3. Measure before you nail
4. Hang frames on different levels to create interest and fill gaps with smaller items.
There is a really easy way to decide how to layout your frames and where to nail just by using junk mail, cutting pieces the size of each frame and sticking them to the wall first. I saw this on younghouselove.com and I have never looked back. it is so simple and idiot proof so you won’t end up with 100′s of holes hidden behind the frames.
Here are a few inspiring galleries to help you get started!
