Strawberry Fare: The Ultimate Dessert Restaurant!
You can’t really say you’ve visited Wellington until you’ve been to Strawberry Fare.
I’m (wo)man enough to put my hand up and admit it. I’m a sugar fiend! Sugar is my first true love, and I know I’m not alone in this. For all you other sugar monsters out there I have the perfect restaurant for you.
As an iconic Wellington restaurant Strawberry Fare specialises in an array of mouth-watering desserts, each one more delicious than the next. Don’t go there planning to have dinner before dessert, the dessert servings are huge and the sugar rush even bigger!
It’s the sort of place they you visit at every possible occasion just so that you can work your way through the many many (twenty-plus!) desserts they have on their menu. When I was a Wellingtonian I visited Strawberry Fare for whatever excuse I could think of –good hair days, assignment hand-ins, self-congratulations for cleaning my room… Anything at all really!
If you don’t quite have the sweet tooth to handle a full serving in one go, the staff are lovely enough to package up your leftovers so that you can take them home (although if you’re anything like me the desserts are usually devoured by the time you get there!) If you do make it home with some leftovers intact they usually make a pretty awesome midnight snack.
Choosing which dessert to have is always the hardest part of a Strawberry Fare visit. My personal fave is the Caramel and Hazelnut Torte, but it would be fabulous to hear your favourites so I know what to try next.
