I have a funny feeling in my stomach about jeans. I’ve loved my current cigarette leg jeans for 3 years, but I’ve got a new denim crush and it’s making my heart beat so fast I think the only cure might be to buy a new pair. That iconic image of Farrah Fawcett skateboarding perfectly captures my new denim direction.

The 70s are my fashion decade of inspiration so flared jeans definitely fit that aesthetic. They are quite a detour from skinny jeans, so it might take a bit of getting used to the new silhouette they give, however I think we can all agree that flares create balance in proportion that can be a very flattering look for hourglass and pear shaped bodies.

These Wrangler jeans are uber gorgeous, and I’ve seen the new flares at Jeans West that are only $99, a true sartorial bargain. Otherwise, going on an op-shop mission wouldn’t be a bad idea and finding some flares from the 70s and then you can strut it out in your vintage denim.

WhoWhatWear have some great tips about flares, and this pic below from The Sartorialist is a bit of inspiration – camel coat + flares = fabulousness.
