Our favourite: Dry Shampoos

What’s not to love about summer? The heat, festivals, parties and beachside breaks always make for a great time of year. But with so many things on your plate it can be difficult to keep your hair looking clean and fresh on the go.

Fortunately I had the pleasure of reviewing several dry shampoos so you can keep your hair looking first day fresh all summer long.

Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo
RRP $29.95

As soon as I sprayed this on my hair I was reminded of body sprays I used to have as a child – it has a citrusy sherbet scent that kept my hair smelling great all day long. The dry shampoo sprayed on evenly, while the nozzle gave great coverage. A quick spray, massage and brush later my hair looked almost like freshly washed hair – there was absolutely no grease or dirt to be seen! Once brushed, my hair was left feeling light, clean and natural – exactly what you need to get from that late night to your next wash. Have coloured hair? Then give this dry shampoo a try as it boasts the ability to extend the life of your colour.

Catwalk by Tigi
RRP $34.99

This dry shampoo had a wonderful clean scent when first applied, with the added bonus of being odour-free once brushed away – perfect if you don’t want your perfume to mix with other scents. While it felt like I had to use a little more of this dry shampoo to get good coverage, the result were well worth it. With a blend of rose and sandalwood to help condition hair this product has exactly what you need for party ready hair: it adds volume and texture, smoothes flyaways and of course leaves you hair looking fresh.

Fudge Dry Shampoo
RRP $25.50

I’d heard many good things about Fudge dry shampoo and am happy to report that they’re true. The product had a strong spray and the nozzle spread the dry shampoo evenly across my hair, making it easy to tell which parts I had covered. After massaging in and leaving for a couple of minutes before brushing out, my hair was back to looking its best. The product features apricot kernel oil to add shine, body and bounce to your second-day hair.  Just minutes after using this product my hair was smooth, glossy and ready to take on another day.

TRESemmé Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo
RRP $14.49 – available at leading supermarkets nationwide

Unlike the other products I reviewed, TRESemmé’s dry shampoo is actually a waterless foam. I was a little wary of this one at first, but was over the moon with the results. Like the other products, this was really easy to use – simply pump a few times into your hand, then run through your hair with your fingertips. Then just quickly rub your hair with a towel to remove the dirt and grease. After using this product my hair was left feeling fresh and requiring no further styling. If you’re looking for a dry shampoo that leaves you feeling like your hair’s had a bit of clean rather than just a cover-up, then you can’t look past this one.
