Our favourite: Cornishware Collection

A fellow twitterer recently shared a picture that had my heart jumping and I couldn’t resist asking him to share with us nzgirls.

Rob aka @noozeeland has the most amazing collection of Cornishware.

An unusual collection for a guy you may think (and he will be the first to agree), but he told me he’s always had this weird obsession with the aesthetically pleasing design of the white plate with the lovely blue bands.

It’s simple, elegant yet informal. It reminds him of an English country house setting, with hot steaming tea in the tea pot, marmalade on toast with porridge being served in the traditional Cornishware bowl on a crisp spring morning.

I love it because it just looks so uniform. It’s timeless, a classic.

The best way to get started with collecting Cornishware would lie with TradeMe or trawling antique shops around the country, as many sell a lot of it in bulk. Be warned though, like most collectables there are forgeries and the only real way to tell if it’s genuine Cornishware is by the TG Green or Judith Onion stamps that are underneath the items.

Thanks Rob for sharing, I’m keen to get my own collection going.
