Finale walk at Charlie Brown
NZFW is rapidly flying by as it always seems to and day three saw a slightly lighter schedule with 6 shows on. Amongst them was crowd favourites Stolen Girlfriends Club and Aussie label Charlie Brown who showed a big collection of luscious day and evening wear.
Here’s what went on during day three:
Salasai: Starting off the day with a modern take on country styling, Salasai showed a collection full of graphic prints, plaids and sheers in an earthy tone with complementary burgundy, lemon and navy tones. Easy to wear blazers, shirting and casual dresses completed the carefree country babe vibe. Love the incredible deep red lips and slick styling. One word summary: Relaxed.
Blak: Florals in clever prints and stripes dominated Blak’s collection, which was both feminine and edgy at the same time. Silks and lace in beautiful sheer dresses were toughened with black leather miniskirts and jackets to create a perfect combination of pretty and sexy. The intricate bobby pin hairstyles were incredible. One word summary: Sleek.
Charlie Brown: Showing a huge collection of pretty daywear and elegant evening wear, Australian label Charlie Brown added a big dose of glamour to the NZFW runway today. Mixing animal print with camo for her daywear, a striking oriental theme took over for her evening wear which was simply stunning. Gorgeous silks, sequins and satins in elegant gowns and perfect party dresses shone in scarlet, ivory, gold and black. One word summary: Luxe.
Taylor: Like urban warriors, Taylor’s looks were undeniably confident with a take no prisoners attitude. Slickly styled, the collection was long and lean with deconstructed edges, monochrome was accented with colour pops of yellow and coral in stunning silk. One word summary: Strong.
Annah Stretton: Celebrating 20 years in the fashion business, Annah Stretton presented her Winter 2013 collection followed by a dancing retrospective of her past collections. For winter the Annah Stretton lady is wearing lots of vintage inspired shapes in lovely brocades and silk with Annah’s signature modern twist. Lots of pretty dresses and feminine suiting with bow details graced the runway. One word summary: Charming.
Stolen Girlfriends Club: The guys who make clothes that rock, Stolen Girlfriends Club, held a show which felt more like a party in a concrete carpark. Showing a collection of guys and girls streetwear with a nineties vibe, SGC mixed their own custom cartoon and cobra prints in with camo and florals to create a slick streetwise look that’s become their signature. Their Stolen bags also got an outing in black vinyl this time. One word summary: Cool.
Friday is the last proper day of NZFW before Fashion Weekend begins on Saturday. Just three shows are on the schedule including: Phoenix Cosmetics, Miromoda and Huffer. I simply can’t wait to see my favourite childhood cartoon ,Jem and the Holograms, on the runway at Phoenix’s show.
