Today’s Hot Five has an easy yet gourmet breakfast idea, a portal back to summer plus we tell you how to cut your sugar cravings!

DEVOURING_ Sabato Frozen Croissants
Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning to the aroma of freshly baked croissants wafting into your bedroom. Golden brown, flakey and hot straight from YOUR own oven. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? It also sounds like a lot of work – but that’s the best bit. Sabato do amazing frozen croissants and pastries. All you need to do is defrost the dough overnight on a tray so it can rise, bang it in an oven at 180 degrees for 18 minutes in the morning and you’re done. My personal favourite filling is a piece of crispy bacon and a slice of avocado. But fresh jam is also pretty good. In our household, we bring these beauts out on special occasions - it’s quite the treat. The croissants come in packs of 6 (or 12 minis) for $12.50 each at the Mt Eden Sabato store.

LUSTING FOR_Saben Studded Headband
Release your inner don’t-mess-with-me-I’m-a-badass-rock-chick self with this totally awesome limited edition headband from Saben. The team is bringing back an exclusive number from their production trip in Bali later this month. You can pre-order one online now for $45. Made with killer studs, a leather headband and an elastic base to fit – it’s your winter must-have accessory. I spotted the headband on the Saben Facebook page earlier this week during a vote off to decide whether the brand should bring some back – obviously the idea was well received!
LISTENING ON REPEAT _ The Black Seeds’ Dust and Dirt
After this week, it’s clear winter has arrived, unpacked and settled in to stay. But don’t worry we’ve discovered a secret portal back to summer. Back in April, reggae-funk heavyweights The Black Seeds released their long awaited album Dust and Dirt… and we love it. Debuting at #1 in the music charts and with single Pippy Pip (have a listen here) getting serious airtime we know you will too! The catchy, laid back tunes off the album stay true to the band’s reggae sound but also introduce new styles to the mix. Download the album on iTunes or find it at all good CD retailers now. PS. I also just really love the album’s cover artwork.

CUTTING OUR CRAVINGS WITH_Go Healthy Go Chromium
There’s been a team effort at nzgirlHQ this week to try cut back on our sugar intake. Whether it’s a constant craving, three thirty-itis or something to satisfy our sweet tooth after lunch we’re all a sucker for it at some point. But those days could be over – Jenene’s discovered a Go Healthy supplement called Go Chromium that helps reduce sugar cravings. Awesome, but how does it work you say? Apparently, sugar cravings come from your blood sugar being out of whack, so what chromium does is help support a balanced blood sugar level therefore reducing the need to crave the sweet stuff. So far, it seems to be doing the trick. Find it at selected health shops and pharmacies nationwide for $25.90 (Find your local stockist here). But note, as it may lower your blood sugar level, if you’re taking medication for diabetes make sure you consult your doctor prior to taking it.
