Hot Five: 7 September 2012

This week’s Hot Five is our New Zealand Fashion Week Edition – here are some of my favourite things from NZFW that you can share in too.

WEARING_Huffer

Huffer’s new summer collection ‘El Summer’ is launched tonight as the last event of NZFW. The launch is at their brand new store which is appropriately in beachy Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore. Featuring a range of really wearable streetwear for girls and guys, Huffer’s collections are always fun, fresh and the epitome of relaxed kiwi cool. Huffer is stocked all over NZ and you can also pick up your own piece of Huffer at their online store (www.huffer.co.nz) too. Their sweet cotton dresses are a particular favourite of mine.

DEVOURING_ Whoopie treats.

These delectable little morsels have been spotted being munched by most of the fashion crowd this week, as they’ve been available at the cafe onsite for us. Kind of a cross between a cupcake and a ginger kiss in style, they are available in a range of flavours instore and online  and are by far the best thing we have been devouring at NZFW this week. There are lots of delicious flavours to choose from but Red Velvet has been a particular favourite … mmmmmm!

LISTENING ON REPEAT_Tali

The talented Tali performed her brand new single ‘Jet Set love’ for the first time last night at NZFW before it was released on George FM today. It’s pretty catchy and is off her forthcoming album ‘Of Things To Come’ which is being released in October. You can download it for free for a limited time through her Facebook page here from today. Tali put on a great performance last night and I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of the album when it drops too.

SHOWING OFF_Nails by Verdo Nails and Magic Tan

Back again for NZFW 2012, the amazing ladies from Verdo Nails and Magic Tan have been super busy keeping the fashion set’s nails looking amazing this week. Their nail bar offers a range of nail services starting from just $10 and will be open over Fashion Weekend as well so you can get your nails done in the latest Orly colours too. Neon is a big trend in nails right now and the most popular colour this week has been ‘Feel the vibe’. If you can’t get to Fashion Weekend you can still make your nails fashion week pretty with Orly nail polish, which is available throughout NZ and priced from $19.90.

THRILLED BY_Phoenix Cosmetics show

One of the most creative and theatrical shows of the week, Phoenix Cosmetics makeup show is on today at 12pm and on Saturday at 4.30pm as part of Fashion Weekend. This year’s show is inspired by the awesome 80’s cartoon Jem and the Holograms, which seems rather apt as Phoenix founder Phoenix Renata is known for her own stunning pink locks. The makeup looks and styling at Phoenix’s shows are always incredible and I’m really excited to see what they’re going to do with the Jem theme this year. Tickets are available from Iticket from as little as $15 which also gets you into the amazing Designer Garage Sale too.
