Hot Five: 20 January 2012

This week’s Hot Five has been written by our foodie and nutritional blogger from Eat Well NZ Nicola Graham!

In this week’s Hot Five you’ll find the perfect balance of tasty treats and fun fitness to get your weekend started!

SHOP IT_Foxes Shop Tea towel

Let’s face it, doing the dishes isn’t the most exciting chore.  However beautiful, display worthy tea towels like this one from the lovely Foxes Shop make the task much more enjoyable.  Buy it here for $22.

WORKING UP A SWEAT WITH_Nike Training Club App

The Nike Training Club App is like a free personal trainer that you can download for your iphone, ipod touch or ipad. Choose workouts to either get lean, get toned or get strong. The full body workouts are either 30 or 45 minutes. You can also choose area specific workouts that are 15 minutes long. The app gives you a video demo of the exercise and then when you hit play it takes you through the whole workout.  Plus you can add in your favourite music as a playlist. All in all, a great way to reach your fitness goals this year – and for free! I’m loving it. For more details, click here.

DEVOURING_BBQ Vegetable medley

Vegetables are one thing that often get left off the BBQ. If this is the case for you then I’d encourage you to try this BBQ vegetable medley from the Healthy Food Guide website.  It makes a tasty,  antioxidant packed addition to the traditional BBQ.

LOVING_Le Coq Sportif shoes

Due to the recent spate of horrible weather, I’ve been wearing my new Le Coq Sportif shoes more than my summer footwear.  You can fold the tops down to show off the pretty colour of the inside, or wear them up as high tops. They’re versatile, comfortable and I’m in love with the turquoise green and grey colour combo.  You can also get a hot pink and cream version that are also very lust worthy. Available online at Shoe Connection for $139.99.

CAN’T  EAT ENOUGH OF_Homemade bread

There is something delightful about the smell of freshly baked homemade bread.  But all the waiting around for the dough to rise and the kneading isn’t something I often have time for. I was pleased to find a delicious recipe for bread that requires none of this and I’ve been making it ever since. Delicious with fresh raspberry jam. Check out the recipe here.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my Hot Five for the week. Happy Friday! Nicola, Eat Well NZ
