We LOVE winter in this week’s Hot Five! Adorable designer wellies, free movies AND a nifty winter wardrobe tip – it’s exactly what the doctor prescribed for the chilly season.

LUSTING OVER_Karen Walker Wellies
These heart meltingly adorable (yet practical!) wellies have only been in stores for a couple of weeks and they are now number one on every girl’s wish list. With cute prints like whales, flowers and daisies and in navy, green or mustard yellow, these are definitely a step up from your usual gumboots. The best part? They’re only $75 a pair and available from Karen Walker stores and The Department Store. #love

CHILLING OUT AT_ Silo Cinema
No plans tonight? Head along to Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter to enjoy Silo Cinema’s free screening of The Breakfast Club and re-live your teenage years. It starts at 7pm but it’s worth getting there early to (a) enjoy a mulled wine from the bar and (b) get a good spot. Hot water bottles will be available as it is an outdoor cinema, but be sure to dress warm and maybe even bring a blanket along. Did we mention it’s free? Get more info here!
WINTER MAINTENANCE AT _Bare Waxing & Skin Centre
I don’t know about you ladies, but I find that I get really slack with my beauty regime during winter. Messy brows, dry skin and not enough attention to the situation down there… I’m sure we’ve all been there! The lovely ladies at Bare know this, so they’ve come up with a handy Maintenance Package* which includes a brow shape, brow tint, Dermalogica microzone facial AND a bikini/brazilian wax for a mere $100! It’s jam-packed into a 1-hour slot so you can even nip out at lunchtime and get yourself sorted. PLUS Bare has just opened a new branch in Albany so they have some special offers to celebrate. Check these out here! *Only available Mondays-Fridays

DEVOURING_ Josh Emmet’s Chef Series Gourmet Meals
Masterchef judge-slash-hottie Josh Emmet has teamed up with NZ gourmet meat company Neat Meats to bring us deliciously slow cooked gourmet meat in a bag. It’s all done using the sous vide cooking technique, where the meat is sealed in an airtight bag and cooked in a water bath for a long time. ALERT: Major melt-in-the-mouth deliciousness!! So basically, all YOU have to do to turn your kitchen into a five star eatery is boil the bag, rustle up a salad and dig in. Available from New World supermarkets now.
DOUBLE TROUBLE_ A new twist on winter layering
I promised you a nifty winter tip and it doesn’t get niftier than this! A friend of mine turned up in the most amazing tights the other day and I was all like, WANT! Turns out the clever girl had layered some lacy stockings over a pair of bright tights to create her very own on-trend printed leggings… is that smart or what? Also very handy on those crazy cold winter days!
