Hot Five: 14 September 2012

There are possibly ALL my favourite things in today’s Hot Five – red dresses, cake pops, the new Glee, a hot new M.A.C collection and Ellie Goulding. Enjoy! #lovelovelove

LUSTING FOR_Waist Detail Lace Dress

Is it just a Twyford thing, or are you also a sucker for a red dress? I’m in #lovelovelove with this new one from Witchery. It’s all I could ask for in a dress this season. Red – check. Pretty lace – check. Peplum – check. With nude lining and an invisible zip at the back, this dress is sure to impress whether you’re at the office or on a date. Find the Waist Detail Lace Dress in Witchery stores nationwide for $349.90. On a side note, there are quite a few pieces from the spring collection at Witchery I’d quite like to add to my wardrobe – definitely worth a visit in-store I reckon.

BAKING UP A STORM WITH_ The Warehouse Cake Pop Tin

First it was cupcakes, then macaroons came along and now the baking obsession has shifted to the delightful bite sized cake pops. It’s the cutest baking trend (possibly ever) and has become a must-have at every beauty launch and fashion event we go to. However, it has always puzzled me exactly how you make them, until I saw this at The Warehouses S/S homewares launch. Our favourite red shed is bringing out a handy cake pop tin! Find it in store now for under $30! For recipes to try with your new tin, head to Bakerella.com (she’s the cake pop queen) – you won’t be disappointed.

SWITCHING ON TO WATCH_ Smash

If you like Glee (we know you do), you’re going to love the new TV show, Smash. The drama takes you into the life of broadway musicals as the series is about the development of a theatre production around icon Marilyn Monroe. Think of it as an adult Glee, hence the later time slot. Watch it on TV3 at 9.30pm on Thursdays. We’ve really enjoyed the first two episodes here at nzgirlHQ. Catch up on demand here.

LOVING_M.A.C Office Hours

This collection arrived on my desk a good month or two ago, and it’s felt like a lifetime waiting to share it with you. Don’t you hate it when your freshly applied makeup is gone by lunch? M.A.C Office Hours is here to fix that. This new collection is all Pro Longwear so it’s going to stay put for your 9am to 5pm work day. The range is available this Monday from MAC stockists and features a series of Pro Longwear blushes, eye shadows and lip glasses all around the $50 mark.

LOOKING FORWARD TO_Ellie Goulding’s first NZ Concert

Pop princess of late, Ellie Goulding is coming down under for her first ever concert in New Zealand. This October, the Lights singer will play at The Studio in Auckland for one concert only. The gig is perfectly timed for the release of her new album Halcyon out October 12. With Ellie’s recent success in the UK, US and NZ charts this girl is one to watch. The concert will be held on Friday 26 October, tickets on sale 9am Thursday 20 September from www.ticketmaster.co.nz.
