Hot Five: 24 August 2012

Today’s Hot Five has been compiled by nzgirl blogger Nicola Graham! It has something for everyone, from food inspiration to bright colourful jewellery.

LUSTING AFTER_Hot pink Z Lamp

I’ve been on the look out for some nice bedside lamps, but many of the ones I like are out of my budget. Except this awesome “Z” lamp by Leitmotiv. It’s minimalist and contemporary in style; and there’s nothing like a pop of colour to brighten up a room. But if pink’s not your thing, it’s also available in white, black and satin finish. Available for $64.90 from Iko Iko.

TRAWLING THROUGH_Naturally Ella food blog

Food blogs have become one of my favourite sources of inspiration for meals, and one of my recent discoveries is Naturally Ella. Naturally Ella is a fresh seasonal cooking blog that focuses on a whole foods approach.  Her photos are so beautiful you just want to get straight into making it!  From appetizers, to main meals to desserts – she’s got it covered. All her recipes are vegetarian, but for the non-vegetarians recipes like roasted blueberry & rhubarb crepes and roasted potato, rosemary and goat cheese pizza are sure to tempt you as well.  Check it out here.

EXCITED FOR_Wattie’s Cans Film Festival

The Wattie’s Cans Film Festival helps provide food cans to The Salvation Army to stock up food banks and help those in need throughout New Zealand over the busy Christmas period. It’s a brilliant way to help a worthy charity.  On the 7th November, visit a participating movie theatre and you can swap a can for a movie ticket.  Wattie’s then matches the number of cans donated with one of their own cans, which then get donated to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.  It’s a wee while away yet, but save the date and organise a fun night out with the girls and help a charity at the same time.  For more information, visit Watties or their check out their Facebook page.

SMOOTHING MY SKIN WITH_Lush Mask of Magnaminty

Winter has left my skin feeling not so great the past few weeks.  To sort it out I’ve been using Lush Mask of Magnaminty.  It’s both a scrub and a mask and it leaves your skin feeling amazingly smooth after use.  The mask contains china clay and bentonite gel which helps cleanse your pores while ground aduki beans and evening primrose seeds exfoliate surface skin cells. It also contains peppermint oil that leaves your skin feeling lovely and fresh. It’s available for $17.30 at Lush stores nationwide, or online here.

ADDING TO MY SHOPPING CART_Neon Chain Necklace

Neon is a trend I’m enjoying right now, but I’m not brave enough to wear too much of it. This necklace is the perfect way to get into the neon trend without going overboard, and it’s been added to my online shopping cart from Glassons.  With neon, chain and diamante details, it’s sure to wow up your outfit. And it’s just $24.99. Available at Glassons, both in store and online here.
