Hot Five: 29 June 2012

Today’s Hot Five has been compiled by nzgirl’s expert panelist Nicola Graham! From fashion finds, beauty DIYs and healthy snacks we’ve got you covered. Plus if you love Instagram – we have just the thing for you!

TRYING OUT_  DIY manicure

During a dreary winter I like to paint my nails bright to add a bit of cheer to my day. I love this DIY manicure by The Beauty Department using sticky tape to get perfect straight lines for the triangles.  For a full set of instructions to create this look, click here!

LUSTING AFTER_Country Road colour block tee

Both colour blocking and pastel are popular trends right now, and rightfully so. The pretty pastel colours of this tee remind me of ice cream which immediately invokes thoughts of warmer weather – something I’m longing for right now.  This pretty tee is going to be a must-have for my wardrobe and for $64.90, it’s not going to break the bank.  Available in Country Road stores or online here.

SCROLLING THROUGH_Made from Scratch

I love a good blog to scroll through for ideas and inspiration, and it’s even better when it’s a New Zealand based blog.  One of my current favourites is Made from Scratch.  Written by Rachael McMahon, Made from Scratch is full of inspiration for delicious baking recipes, weddings, interiors and DIY ideas.  Just a warning though, you could lose hours scrolling through the pages!

LOVING_Printstagram

If you’re addicted to the smart phone photo app Instagram, then you’ll love Prinstagram. It’s a website that will turn your lovely Instagram shots into physical photos. They have a range of photos, from your standard prints, to stickers and posters. A set of 24 square prints will set you back US$12, excluding postage. To find out more, see their website here.

SNACKING ON_ Wunderbites muesli bars

If you’ve ever tried to find a low sugar muesli bar, you’ve probably discovered that it’s near on impossible.  Enter the new brand Wunderbites.  These muesli bars are low GI, a source of fibre and contain under 10% fat and under 10% sugar – plus they taste good too.  They use xylitol (not an artificial sweetener) to sweeten them.   A packet of five costs $4.99 and are available in three scrumptious flavours. My favourite is Lime and Coconut. To find out more, visit their website.
