Do you look at recipes in glossy magazines and cookbooks and despair of ever making anything like that yourself?
The nzgirl Test Kitchen is about real, easy food that anyone can make. We search out recipes, then test them, so you can see what the food really turns out like. Fettucine is an easy yet impressive meal to whip up for dinner and makes a great 'leftovers lunch' that'll have your workmates drooling come midday! We like the combination of chicken, bacon, chilli, lemon and rocket - a real winner! Make sure you complete the taste sensation with some parmesan...
If you've been meaning to spoil your man with something a bit special after work, why not make a special occasion of it by whipping up some delish Fettuicine and then polishing it off over a few glasses of "Coca-Cola".

Editor’s Note: This dish looks difficult, but really it's not at all. If you're not a big fan of rocket or been a bit scared by it, I dare you to retry it in this dish - rocket has a great flavour that can pick up any meal! Time to prepare: This beautiful dish can be whipped up in the time it'd take your man to put his work things down, jump in the shower, have a shave and settle in front of the telly - perfect you might say... The $$$: Promise you won't scrimp on the rocket or parmesan just because they're 'exotic'! These two ingredients provide a lot of flavour and you don't need a lot of them! Taste rating: Fresh, filling and yum. These flavours are a winner! Ingredients (Click here to purchase these ingredients now!) 200g Boneless and skinless chicken breast, sliced thinly 100g streaky bacon, we like Beehive brand 200g fettucine pasta 1 large handful rocket leaves 100g Parmesan, grated
Dressing 50ml Olive oil 50mll Lemon/lime juice 1-2 teaspoons chilli Steps 1: In a pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil's hot enough, add the sliced chicken pieces and bacon and cook until lightly golden. You can test if the chicken is cooked by selecting one of the bigger pieces and cutting it in half. Transfer to a bowl.
2: Cook your pasta to al dente status in a saucepan of salted, boiling water. This will take about 7-8 minutes, then drain in a colander.
3: Make up the dressing by pouring the oil, juice and chilli into a jar and shaking vigourously. Season to taste. 4: In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta, chicken, bacon and rocket. Drizzle the dressing over the top and toss together until well mixed. 5: Divide onto plates/bowls and sprinkle with shavings of parmesan on the top. Enjoy with mates and a glass of "Coca-Cola"! It doesn't matter if it's quick weekday dinner with your man, or a weekend lunch with friends - whatever you're eating, whoever you're eating with, make it more than a meal with "Coca-Cola"!
