Princess Bride: Where are they now?

Cult classic The Princess Bride is turning 21, and while it’s still a hot movie favourite, some of its stars haven’t aged quite so well... From dead ends, to death and multiple marriages, have a look at where the infamous cast are now!

Cary Elwes aka ‘Westly’
Cary Elwes has been keeping himself busy over the last 21 years with roles in everything from Seinfield and Pinky and the Brain, to the psycho-killer thriller Saw and even Georgia Rule! To add to his list of credentials, Cary Elwes also starred in the cult comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights as well as roles in other huge hits such as Liar, Liar and The Jungle Book. This busy boy got married in 2000 to the lovely Lisa Marie Kurbikoff. They have one child together and are still happily married. He’s also rumoured to be working on a couple of new films, Ye Olde Times and A Christmas Carol

Mandy Patinkin aka ‘Inigo Montoya’
Mandy Patinkin has been around the block since those golden days. From winning an Emmy in 1995 for 'Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series' in Chicago Hope, to releasing two solo albums and even scoring a role in Criminal Minds in 2007, Mandy Patikin also has a long list of credentials. Patikin has also been lucky in love, marrying his sweetheart back in 1980 but not so lucky on the health side of things. He’s had to have two corneal transplants, one in each eye, and also suffered from prostate cancer back
in 2004. He’s now cancer free though!

Chris Sarandon aka ‘Prince Humperdink’

Chris has been keeping it a bit more low key in less flashy, high-profiled roles but has still been making steady film, stage and TV appearances. He’s now on his third marriage – divorcing his first wife in 1979, marrying and divorcing model Lisa Anne Cooper during the 80s and finally ending up with co-star Joanna Gleason in 1994. He has one stepchild with his current wife and three with Lisa Anne. He’s also in filming for new flick Cyrano de Bergerac and his other
current movie Multiple Sarcasms is in post production.

Robin Wright Penn aka ‘Buttercup’
Married to Sean Penn in 1996, Robin now has two kids and even some Golden Globe nominations under her belt. The couple were going to get divorced but withdrew the petition earlier this year. Since her Princess Bride days, Robin’s most infamous roles include that of Jenny in Forest Gump and Theresa Osborne in Message in a Bottle. She’s also currently working on a bunch of projects to be released later this year and in 2009.

Andre the Giant aka ‘Fezzik’

Andre the giant became a highly sought after professional wrestler. Standing around 7 ft, Andre was largely undefeatable in the ring and was the first inductee into the WFF hall of fame in 1993. Sadly, Andre the giant also died in January 1993 from heart failure when he was in Paris for his father’s funeral.

Fred Savage aka ‘The Grandson’
Savage was just 11-years-old when he played the role of the grandson in the Princess Bride. Victim of childstar-itis, Savage hasn’t had much success since those early days with his only acting job since he was a kid in the series Working back in 1997. While his acting career may have gone stalemate with his age, Savage is happily married and is expecting his second child next month!

Liselle
