You don’t always have time to nip out for a latte from your favourite café, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss your caffeine fix!

Instant coffee makes a great little pick me up, but with over 100 varieties on offer, finding one that’s also going to satisfy your taste buds can be hard to find.

Here in the nzgirl office we decided to roadtest a variety of brands so that you don’t have to. With everything from organic to decaf, we found out if Moconna really does have mere mmmmm…
 

1: Moccona 
A clear winner with the majority of our ‘roadtestees’ choosing it for the top spot, Moccona was described as “creamy”, “full bodied” and “nice and strong”. It came in a close second with the other testers meaning that overall it was our office favourite.

2: Nescafe Noir 90g $8.39
Nescafe was also a very popular choice here in the office with a pretty consistent vote for the silver medal. It was our Art Director Sarah’s favourite choice but some of the other girls marked it down because of the bitter after taste. On the positive side, they also said if was full of flavor and very strong, both in smell and in taste. Perhaps a coffee for a hard morning?

4: Gregg’s Granulated Decaf Roast 75g $4.99
Things started to go a little haywire here with this coffee being described as something you would get at your Grandma’s – and that was one of the tame comments. Bonnie thought she could detect a distinct taste of ants whereas beauty editor Anya thought it tasted like it had been left out a while then heated in the microwave. Apparently, we need our caffeine in the office so this decaf mix just doesn’t cut it.
