There are some things in this life you need to do at least once. Whether it’s extending yourself to become a worldly person, making the most of your opportunities or being the best person you can be, push yourself beyond the realms of ordinary life and into the extraordinary!
TAME
Stay out all night and go to work the next day (just once). While being hungover at work is not usually encouraged, spontaneity is. This is definitely not something you should make a habit of, but letting go and not thinking about the consequences every now and again will make for some good times. Work the next day may be hell but you’ll have all the good memories from the night before to see you through! Get to know your neighbors. Do you know your neighbors well enough to borrow a cup of sugar? That good ol’ community feel is often amiss from our neighborhoods today as we prefer to keep more and more to ourselves. Go over to your neighbors and introduce yourself, say hello when you see them and always have that sugar on hand should they come a knocking. Not only will this result in on demand cooking supplies but you’ll bonus some good friends and make your neighborhood a nicer place to live
INTERMEDIATE Ask someone you’ve only just met out on a date. Don’t let all the hot guys in this world pass you by! While asking someone out is undeniably nerve wrecking, you really don’t have that much to loose. Guys appreciate confidence and marching right up to that sexy lad from across the bar will score you brownies big time. You can also take comfort in the fact that if everything does turn pear shaped he’s just that random boy, a stranger, a mere memory…
Get passionate about a cause. Stop just thinking about a cause and go and do something about it. This could be as simple as making a donation or spreading the word to your friends and family, right through to participating in a protest (or organising it) and becoming a volunteer. Live passionately and get rowdy about the things you’re into because there’s enough ‘yes (wo)men’ in the world already.
CHALLENGE Learn to speak a foreign language. This may take you a little longer than a month but there’s no time like the present to start giving it a go. Extend your native tongue and learn a new language in all its different capacities by exploring your country’s of choice customs, history and culture. You could even make it your mission statement to one day go and visit, and put all that effort to good use.
Be someone’s mentor. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone grow and knowing that you were the person to guide them there. You may already be someone’s mentor without even knowing it, but being there beyond a doubt for someone in both a professional and social context will ensure that you’re the one they call on. Do your best to be someone to look up to and it will amaze you how inspired you’ll make people feel.
