‘Camere / Hide and Seek’ Cristina Popovici March 11 – March 25, 2008 74 France Street, Newton, Auckland
Do you like the sound of a visual feast that questions your preconceptions about art? For her March 2008 solo exhibition, ‘Camere/ Hide and Seek’ at SOCA Gallery, Christina Popovici will take the audience on another unpredictable journey. The artist, who defies strict categorisation, is taking her exploration of abstraction further – setting the paintings within a maze of temporary built walls in the gallery space. This allows her to navigate the audience through her own narrative. Click here for more info on this fascinating exhibition: www.soca.co.nz

| | | | | | | | | Shaky Isles Coffee Co. 492 New North Road, Kingsland, Auckland Recently I dragged some of the nzgirl team to join me at Shaky Isles, a new brunchy-breakfast establishment on the Kingsland café strip. The food is great (most options are under $10!) the meals don’t take over my plate and end up on my thighs and the service is top notch. But I like Shaky Isles because of the funky interior; wooden floors, crazy light bulbs, large framed mirrors and quirky cartoon characters painted here and there (Ed's note: Me too!). As a creative person, I could just sit there all day and stare at the glorious artistic eye candy around me!
