April’s theme ‘A Girl at Any Age’ is all about the notion that whatever your biological age, you’re still a girl at heart. To further this idea, our challenges this month are about being the best you, you can be, whatever age you are…
TAME
Streamline your morning. Do you rush around like a crazy woman every morning, trying to find something to wear and make your lunch before you rush out the door to apply your makeup in the car and eat breakfast at your desk? Your morning should be a chilled out start to the day, not a hectic stress-inducer. Work out a schedule, get up early enough to make it work and look forward to a much calmer start to the day.
Create a winter workout plan. Don’t spend another winter stocking up on stodgy food and mooching on the couch. Winter weight is great for keeping warm, but there’s nothing fun about wasting the first half of summer shifting it! Think of a strategy so you can maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout the year – you’ll feel so much better for it.
INTERMEDIATE
De-clutter. Let’s face it, we all have cupboards full of clutter and stuff we really don’t need anymore! Tackle one cupboard/ space a weekend for the month of April. Make sure you’re ruthless about biffing things you don’t need anymore, but don’t go overboard and throw out precious memories – set up a special box to preserve the bits and pieces that chart your path through life.
Find your perfect haircut. Are you still sporting the locks you’ve been growing since you were a teen? It’s time for a fresh look that makes a statement about the person you are now, not the one you were seven years ago. Scour magazines for inspiration, find a hairdresser you can trust and burst out of that hair rut!
CHALLENGING
Write a letter to your younger self. What have you learnt with age that you really wish you’d known earlier? Sit down and think about yourself as, say a teenager, and craft some advice for that girl – you may find by putting the things you’ve learnt into words, you get a better understanding of how you can fix areas of your life in the present.
Figure out your style. Are you prone to major fashion faux pas? It’s time to develop a sense of your personal style so you don’t fall for the whims of seasonal trends (and get it wrong!). Women who have a strong personal style know how to dress timelessly, rather than being dictated to by what’s “hot”. Figuring out what works for you is a sure sign of maturity, so put some time into this. Start a scrapbook with inspirational images, along with cut outs of outfits you like – you’ll quickly see a trend emerging.
