Cornish Patsy has left New York (click here to read her guide to shopping up a storm in the Big Apple) and arrived in the 'City of Love' with one thing on her mind – checking out the talent! Keep moving and stay pumped for a 24 hour speed dating whirlwind trip through the city’s best romantic locations…
8am: As much of a Paris institution as the Can-Can at the Moulin Rouge, Café Deux Magots simply is a must-visit. Located at 6 Place St-Germain des Prés, this café has been the place to be seen since 1914 and has long been a meeting point for the intellectuals of Paris. Soak up the atmosphere over a traditional French breakfast, while gearing up for a day of dates around Paris. 9am: Paris has always been a magnet for artistic types and there’s no better spot to check out centuries of art than the Louvre. It’s the perfect date spo t for a creative man – you can marvel at just how small the Mona Lisa is in real life together. TRAVEL TIP: If you’re heading to this monumental art gallery make sure you skip the queues and pre-order your tickets here. 11am: Dating an oddball? Eccentric types will love a wander around the Cimitiere du Pere Lachaise. It may sound a bit morbid, but this fascinating cemetery contains the ornate tombs of famous philosophers, composers and of course Jim Morrison of The Doors. Find out more here 1pm: It’s hard not to think about food when you’re in a country with as rich a gastronomic history as France. Head to Jardin des Tuileries with a picnic and an outdoorsy lad to rest your weary legs in the sun. Make sure you pick up a baguette, some delicious cheese and a bottle of wine to wash it all down – heavenly! 3pm: When you think of Paris, couture is one of the first words that comes to mind. Grab a wealthy Euro-prince and browse the city’s most famous department store - Galeries Lafayette. Housed in a colossal 10-storey-high bu ilding, you’ll find everything from designer fashion to to-die-for chocolate within its walls. If men with gold cards are in short supply then window shop with a soulful artist. 4pm: Feeling a bit peckish? Find a Frenchman with a passion for food (that shouldn’t be hard!) and head to the Champs Elysées branch of Ladurée. This amazing patisserie is world renowned for its incredible macaroons, which come in every flavour under the sun. Get your macaroon selection to take away and enjoy them in the little park by the Place de la Concorde. 6pm: The French are renowned for their sense of romance, so fall for those cheesy lines and agree to a date atop the Eiffel Tower. Head up at 6pm so you can see the city by dusk, but be prepared to queue – the line can take up to 45 minutes! Of course, you could choose to walk the 680 stairs to the second level if you’re keen… 10pm: Still got the energy to keep moving? Find a dark and brooding musician to enjoy the best of the Parisian jazz scene. Le Caveau de la Huchette draws a young crowd, despite the old school swing and be-bop beats.
