Heading overseas? We’ve trawled the internet to find five sites that will help you stretch your Kiwi dollars that bit further…
Hostelbookers
The tagline: 'HostelBookers prides itself on being the only independent hostel booking site that has no booking fees.'
The deal: This site makes booking a hostel online super easy, so you can find a room, a bed (or even a tent in some cases!) before you leave home. There are thousands of hostels all around the world with options for every budget.
The deal: If you’re travelling around Europe on a budget then the Easy range of travel related business will come in very handy. The chain with the bright orange logo does everything from airport buses to super cheap flights, plus they have their own discount hotels and can even sort you out with a cheap car rental.
The deal: There’s a new saying in my house – “Have you Trip Advisor-ed it?” This site contains endless traveller generated reviews so you can find out about the bed bugs in a potential accommodation option, before you endure a night there! It’s also a fantastic resource for tips on attractions, train rides, food and everything else travel related.
The tagline: 'Gumtree is a free classified ads and community site.'
The deal: The site started in London and if you’re heading there for your OE make sure you save it to your favourites! It’s great for everything from finding a job to buying a second hand bed, but you’ll find it particularly useful for sussing out accommodation.
The tagline: 'Best airfare and holiday deals online.'
The deal: The site can be a bit hard to look at, but the informal style and great collection of deals make it worthwhile. Sign up for their newsletter to keep on top of new offers and always read “da catch” which details the additional taxes, close out periods and other availability restrictions.
