Get Sexy Celeb Curls

After years of boring, poker straight hair, celebs are bringing sexy back with super sexy curls. nzgirl brings you the ultimate guide to recreating the hottest looks of all your fav celebs...

It’s not as hard as you may think to get gorgeous celeb-worthy hair! We’ve got the key looks of this season covered - from sexy spirals, romantic waves and loose curls, you’re sure to look hot no matter the occasion!

For all of these looks it’s best to start with healthy hair. Pick a shampoo and conditioner to suit your hair type, and start using an intensive hair treatment at least once a week. We love Andrew Collinge’s Simply No Frizz Salon Treatment (2). It’s a luxurious mask which restores moisture, nourishes and gives hair a glossy shine. It will also help protect your hair from any nasty heat damage.

It's also important to use good quality curl and volume enhancing products to keep your luscious curls from turning into a boofy mess! Here are some of our favourite products to keep your curls tight and shiny all day (or night!). After all - there's nothing worse then finding your sexy ringlets have dissolved into a wild afro...

1: PPS Root Lift Volumiser $20.00 rrp
2: Andrew Collinge Smooth & Silky Salon Treatment $14.99 rrp
3: Sammy Big Curls Curl Defining Creme $18.00
4: Andrew Collinge Shine On Salon Serum $14.99
5: Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier $34.95 rrp

Tight Curls: Chalize Theron
Chalize Theron works the tight curled look to perfection. It’s a style which chanels old school glamour, with a fun and flirty twist. This look is super pretty and perfect for a first date.

1: Apply a volumising spray (1) from the roots to the ends
into clean, towel-dried hair.
2: Using a large round brush, dry hair in sections, starting at the nape of the neck. Blow hair out and under to create a smooth wave of volume. Do the entire head until completley dry.
3: Using a small barrelled curling iron, go through and curl your hair in small sections. Remember to curl hair in different directions for a more natural look.
4: Spray your entire head with a flexible hold hair spray, and gently comb through with your fingers. This will break the curls and help to recreate softness (but don’t break them up too much!).
5: Smooth fly aways with a little serum (2). Pin one side of your hair behind your ear, and add your favourite flower or pin!

Romantic Waves: Jessica Alba
For romantic, soft curls try Jessica Alba’s hot look. This one is easy to achieve because it’s more about the volume than the actual curl, making it a great style for girls with naturally straight hair.

1: After washing and shampooing your hair (try a volumising shampoo and conditioner for extra bounce), apply a curl enhancing cream (5)  to make sure your curls are bouncy and glossy.
2: Tip your head upside down and blow dry your hair. This will help create even volume and fullness at the roots.
3: Use a large barrelled curling iron and divide off medium sized, random sections of hair to create soft, wavy, loose curls. Focus on the mid lengths of your hair - don’t start too high up.
4: Leave your fringe until last, and run the curling iron through the mid length of the hair, to only slightly curl the ends.
5: Add a light mist of hairspray to keep the style in shape.

Sexy Spirals: Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson nails the sexy curl every time. Her look here is a classic one that suits any occasion, from casual to formal, and is sure to always get you noticed (for all the right reasons of course!).

1:
Apply a volumiser(1) and curl enhancer(3) to towel dried hair. You’re going to need a lot of hold for this look so make sure you apply the product evenly.
2: Blow dry, and scruch as you go to encourage curls.
3: For this look you can use a curling iron, curlers or even a slim line straighter. Section your hair, and start curling from the bottom up. The higher you get, the smaller the sections of hair should become (you want softer curls on your bottom layers and tighter ones on top). Spray each curl with hairspray as you go.
4: Gently brush your fingers through the curls to break them up give and a little bit of definition. Smooth over a little serum (4) for extra shine and to combat any frizz.
