A marathon is 26.2 miles. This sounds like rather a long distance if you don’t have anything to look forward to along the way. Map out 26 different places around your city, have a few warm up kisses then head off (yes you can drive if you want) and get a snapshot of yourselves kissing in each different place. Step it up a notch by turning it into a  scavenger hunt in terms of the things you have to kiss in front of (for example a yellow car or a fountain) then on completion, head home for a much deserved soak in the bath and give each other a massage.

Remember how fun it was to make fortress when you were a kid? Escape into your own little world together and have a date in a fortress (half the fun is in building it after all), a tree house, playhouse or cabin. Take along some music, wine and some food, and hide away from the world.

 

Go lingerie shopping together and buy something for each

other. Think silky, lacy or just plain see through - whatever
floats your boat. Head home and follow your splurge with your own personal catwalk show. Spice things up even more by heading to an adult toy shop (or jump online if you’re feeling a little shy) then see where the evening takes you…

 

Arrange to meet your partner somewhere like a bar (preferably one you haven’t been to before) and pretend you’ve never met each other before. Initiate some flirting, buy each other drinks and play ‘20 Questions’ to discover your mysterious date's personality.

 

Hire a private dancer and have some lessons with your partner. You could try anything from tango to ballroom or maybe even striptease if you’re feeling particularly bold. Set up a date to head out and show off your new moves at the appropriate place (which is the bedroom if you went for that last one) and dress up for the part. Alternatively, if you can’t afford to splash out on a private instructor then get out a how-to DVD and practice at home.

Find a last minute deal on a hotel room and flights online, then head away with not much more than the clothes you’re wearing. Give yourself (and your sweetheart) no more than 24 hours notice then sweep them off their feet and out of the city. Keep the agenda simple with lazy swims, days on the beach and evening walks. The spontaneity of the trip will add to the adventure and keep that romance coming.
