There are a few things you can do in this world to make your life a little more worthwhile.
We’re not just talking searching for answers here, but rather getting the most of your days, making your community a little better and improving your health.
A little bit of volunteering You’ve heard of the warm fuzzy feelings you get from volunteering but that’s not the only reward. By becoming a volunteer you’re helping shape up the community, shape up the future and maybe even help shape up some people. A great way to get involved is by becoming a Girl Guide Leader and they’re recruiting now! Being a Girl Guide Leader can almost be like going back to school yourself, with a whole bunch of awesome activities to organise and the fun of taking on a little group of admirers. A little bit nice Fifty cents won’t even buy you a bag of lollies at your local dairy anymore, so why do you insist on carrying around all that worthless shrapnel? Especially when there are people giving up their time to stand on street corners with little buckets and terribly unflattering orange/yellow/pick-your-whatever-day-and-insert-colour-here vests, all in want of a small donation? Phew! Even writing it is exhausting! Fill those buckets, help out a friend, chat with an old person, release your inner angel and give people cake! Being nice is one of the most worthwhile things you can do. It makes you friends and makes other people happy. It also gives you enough warm fuzzies to take to the bank and save for a rainy day!
A littlebit of a health buzz
You’re going to die. One day. Not quite yet, but rest assured it’s coming… On a more cheery note though, by swapping your ciggies for a celery stick, your sunbeds for sunblock and your lazy afternoons in front of the telly for a stroll along the beach, you can evade that fateful day for a bit more time to come… Unless you get hit by a bus, then you’re screwed.
A little bit daring Being nice all the time can get slightly tedious, so balance it out with a bit of adventure. Heed the ‘carpe diem’ philosophy of life and seize the day. Being a little daring is terribly worthwhile in that (at the risk of employing yet another cliché) you only live once so you might as well have a have a ball - dance like no one's watching, and all that jazz. Simply write a list of all the things you’ve always wanted to do - then go and do them. Easy as pie.
A little bit conservative None of these things are going to be worthwhile, unless we have a world to do them in. For this reason it's a good idea to look after our mother earth a little better. We are pretty much evil children who because of our shenanigans/ gas emissions, have aged our dear mummy fast, then gone and put her in one the shoddiest old folks homes around. The people are mean, no one visits and everyone’s just waiting for her to die. By dropping your car for a bike you can give the old lady some air and by planting your own vegie garden (or a tree if you’re feeling particularly generous), you can give some back to the earth, and maybe even save yourself some cash. Happy Belated Mother's Day.
