About You
Hosting the Perfect Hen's Night

A hen’s night is a rite of passage - your last night out as a single girl, and an opportunity to celebrate your upcoming nuptials with the girls.

But, if you’ve been charged with organising one, what can you do? From tame to scandalous, here are some ideas to make your hen’s night one to remember.

Strip down
If she’s up for it (and it’s best to check first!) a stripper is a traditional and saucy hen’s night essential. There are plenty of options - our favourite is Levi, check him out at www.levionline.co.nz (he’s got a lot to offer!) - from cop to pizza delivery boy, you can customise his look to suit the occasion and the bride. No matter what the outfit though, you can always be sure that you'll get nice muscles and a great tan!

Back to the future
If you’re creatively inclined, you could celebrate your buddy’s pre-marriage life with a photo montage and some running commentary. It’s also fun to ask the groom a bunch of questions before the party, and then test the bachelorette to find out how well she knows her new life partner - if she gets it wrong, she has to drink up!

dine@home naked
If a stripper is a bit much, dine@home naked is a slightly tamer option. Enjoy tasty food and drinks served by your very own (topless) waiter. The nzgirl team road tested this option recently (read about the hijinks here – Levi was the waiter, and he charmed us all) and had a blast! For more info head to www.dineathome.co.nz

Pole dancer
It’s saucy, it’s sexy - and it’s a fantastic workout. Take the group for pole dancing lessons - some local strip clubs do it, and there are even places set up especially - check out www.polefitness.co.nz. It’ll be a right laugh, as long as you don’t get too serious like these two (click here to check out the video).

Relax and get gorgeous
How about some girly bonding time at a local day spa? You can select your treatments in advance, and if there’s a large group of you there might even be a special deal available! Or if you’re an outdoorsy group, how about an activity like a day at the races, kayaking or hiring a chartered boat?!

Bag Ladies
A great way to find out more about your friends - sit in a circle and everyone tips their handbags upside down. The person with the weirdest contents wins a prize!

Boy BitsI
If you want things to get a bit raunchy, there are heaps of fun hen’s night games. For example, who can put a condom on a bottle or banana the fastest using only their teeth? Or pin the penis on the man (make sure it’s not a real man - or penis!). The fastest or most accurate wins a prize.

Truth or Dare
If you’re heading out on the town, it’s always fun to give the bride-to-be a list of dares to complete on her last night out as a single lass. Check out this cute Bachelorette Party Kit ($44.99 rrp, distributed by Southern Publishers Group) it comes with a list of challenges and other cute stuff. One word of warning - dares like ‘obtaining male chest hairs using only your teeth’ and ‘getting a pair of guy’s undies’ are not so cool.

And what not to do:
  • Don’t make the bride-to-be do anything she doesn’t want to do. You’re her friend, remember.
  • Don't make her look stupid. Some people think a hen’s night is the time to humiliate their buddy - but would you like that?! My favourite hen’s night involved the bachelorette wearing devil horns with a veil at the back, while we all wore angel wings - she looked sexy, not stupid, and had a great time as a result!

Most of all, have fun. Be there for your friend and help to make her hen’s night a special celebration to remember.

Chloe
