Kimberley Crossman is one nzgirl who lives life to the fullest. With a core role on Shortland St and a strong passion for performing, this 19-year- old is one busy chicky!
Not only does Kimberley act, she also loves to dance. She studies ballet, jazz and hip hop, and competes and teaches a wide range of dance styles. On top of all that, she's also involved with the Lowdown, a fabulous website which aims to help young people with depression. We had a chat with Kimberley to find out what drives and inspires her to succeed and make the most of every day… When you were little who inspired you? My older sister. I wanted to be just like her. I copied most things she did and really looked up to her. She is the most amazing dancer and always heaps of fun Now that you’re older, which woman inspires you most and why? Hayden Panatterie. She’s a similar age to me. She’s extremely talented and has already achieved so much. What qualities do you believe it takes for someone to be inspirational? Honesty within themselves. Genuine, positive and ambitious. What inspires you? The belief that you can achieve anything that you want to! The world is your oyster and life is what you make of your opportunities. What do you love most about being an nzgirl? We have so many opportunities, a great environment and are surrounded by amazing people. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? “When you’re winning …..work like your losing.” “I am in control of my future.” What do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far and how was it accomplished? Being Deputy Head Girl at Diocesan was a huge achievement for me. I loved school. I worked hard and made the most of every opportunity by getting involved in everything that I could. How do you feel about being a role model yourself? I think it is awesome. I hope that I am someone that people can look up to. I am still learning about myself and life, but I’m working hard and having fun at the same time. A good balance is important. Why did you decide to become involved with The Lowdown?I thought it was a really good idea. It’s important to know there are people who will support you, or who have been through this type of thing as well, so that you know you are not alone. Why do you think it is important to have a site such as The Lowdown available for young Kiwis? Because it offers support and valuable information and it is very accessible. What advice do you have for anyone who may be feeling depressed or knows
someone that might be in that situation? To make sure they talk to someone, friends, family, a counsellor. Don’t bottle it all up. And if you know someone who might be affected, it’s important to offer support and to listen. Ramarea
Love Shortland St? We sent Liselle on a date with Lee Donoghue who plays Sophie's brother Hunter. Get all the goss here!
