Take a walk on the wild side and release your inner adrenaline junkie - these
extreme sports will get your blood pumping and give you a whole new lease on life.

Sky Diving
There’s nothing to get your blood pumping like jumping out of a plane. Both exhilarating and slightly insane, experience the rush of a freefall either in tandem for first timers or take a course to go for a solo jump. The best thing here is you can chuck in your 9-5 job and get paid for partaking in such exciting adventures. Start the new year with a new career and join the Air Force. You'll move away from your every day routine for an extraordinary career working as anything from a Pilot to a Parachute Jump Instructor. Find out more here

Bungee Jumping
New Zealand is the official home of the bungee jump so why not celebrate our little feat by taking your own leap of faith? If you’re in Auckland, you can jump off the Harbour Bridge rather than endure another drive across it in the traffic or you could take a trip down to the legendary Kawarau Bridge jump and experience first hand the jump that launched Queenstown as the adventure-capitial of the world! Mountain Climbing
I don’t know what’s more extreme here - Scaling cliff faces and scouring mountains or the mega workout you get from doing it. Either way, there’s some rugged and beautiful terrain to be explored out there so chuck on your boots! (no, not the ones with heels) and see what our country has to offer. You could go and explore the Southern Alps and clamber to the top of our highest peak, Mount Cook. If you get a taste for it there’s even mountaineering courses you can take.

White Water Rafting
A combination of team work, excitement and a helluva lot of water, moving really fast; white water rafting
 has to make the cut when it comes to extreme sports. Definitely one for those of you who can swim (just throwing that out there!) you can partake in different levels of adventures around some of our country’s beautiful rivers. If you’re feeling particularly game, check out www.riverrats.co.nz for information on the highest commercially rafted waterfall as well as options in the lower levels.

Hang Gliding
For those of you who don’t find the thought of jumping
off planes or bridges too attractive, the idea of soaring through the air might be more up your alley. This is an activity that you can do at many centres around New Zealand, it’s just a matter of looking up one close to you. This is as close as you’re ever going to get to flying - just imagine running down a slope and with every step you get lighter and lighter until suddenly you take flight! Magic. Plus you go in tandem, so you can sit back and enjoy the ride while someone else worries about the technical stuff.
