Your car has been good to you, but it's time for an upgrade. Choosing a new set of wheels can be a daunting process, but it's also a lot of fun.
We asked the nzgirl team share what's next on their wishlist. Hopefully you get some good ideas...
Anya, Fashion & Beauty Editor I’ll be honest, words like “peak oil” and “rising petrol prices” strike fear into my heart and my pocket. And whilst I’d love to own some kind of stupidly ridiculous large American car for the sake of it, I have to say I have my eye on the Belladona RV 150 Vespa. Sure it’s not really a car, but it’s got enough grunt to get me from A – B, sweet vintage styling and is perfect for the compact roads of Wellington. But more than that these babies are are a little bit kinder on the environment due to the tiny engines and great fuel economy.
Amber, Marketing Manager My next car will be…The Mazda 3. A small yet super sexy hatchback perfect for zipping around town it will fit into any parking spot for an emergency shopping fix. Apparently it has a “smooth-revving DOHC 2.0L and 2.3L powerplants” but I have no idea what that means. I just want it in black.
Sarah, Art Director I love my current car – a little nana Toyota Corolla…so I am going to hold on to that for a while. But when it's time for a new car, I will have hopefully saved enough money for a Mini Cooper S in Dark Silver/Black. It comes with mags and it’s Super Charged so that means I can go rocket-man fast. I am considering white racing stripes and British racing green too…
Eve, Sub Editor Ever since I was fifteen, my best friend and I have had a dream to buy a VW Kombi Camper and travel around the country. We fantasised about endless summers cruising round in our bus, chilling out at the beach and then sleeping in the back at night. Unfortunately, save as we did, our meagre waitressing wages never quite got us there and the Kombi remained a dream. I’m still dying to own one though…and it will happen, one day!
Vicky, Marketing Assistant The most REALISTIC car choice on my wishlist at the moment is the 2004 Mazda 6 Station Wagon - in black of course! I’ve had my eye on this car for a fair while now, but saving for a new car is low on the priority list. I’ve always been one for big cars – particularly wagons, and this one just looks so sexy from the inside out! I love car shopping – so if someone finds a money tree then please let me know!
Gemma, Editor My wee Nissan Lucino hatchback has been good to me so I’d definitely buy another car by this manufacturer, however, I think when I upgrade it will be to something a bit sportier and much sexier. I’ve had my eye on the Nissan 350z for a while. I love the shape and the interior is seriously hot. There are a few for sale at the car yard down the road from my house and I always drool over them when I go past! You can pick up one of these babies second hand for around 30k, so it’s not an impossible dream.
